Invisalign comes with a whole host of benefits for those patients who decide to choose this as their orthodontic treatment.
Some of the advantages of Invisalign include, but aren’t limited to, the following:
The aligners are clear, allowing you to have a virtually invisible orthodontic treatment. This is a perfect option for those patients who are nervous about being seen wearing traditional braces.
You can remove the aligners whenever you want just as long as you wear them for about 22 hours a day.
Because the aligners are removable, you can eat whatever you want and you don’t have to avoid any foods you like. With braces, you can’t eat certain foods for fear of breaking the brackets or wires.
As an added benefit of the aligners being removable, cleaning your teeth is just as simple as it’s always been. With Invisalign, you just remove your aligners and brush like usual.
Invisalign is made out of soft, comfortable plastic that will irritate your mouth and gums much less than wires and brackets.
Aligners will also function as a type of nightguard that will protect your teeth from grinding.
Invisalign combines advanced computer technology with the 100 year old science of orthodontics, making it a uniquely effective and convenient treatment option. Every patient’s treatment experience will vary, but the Invisalign treatment process typically looks like this:
• During your initial evaluation, we’ll perform a comprehensive exam of your mouth and use specialized 3D computer imaging technology to create a fully realized computer model of your bite.
• Using this model and the information we gather at your examination, we’ll form a diagnosis of your orthodontic situation.
• Based on this diagnosis, we’ll use Invisalign’s advanced software to create a treatment plan, digitally moving the teeth in your bite model into new alignment for a healthy, beautiful smile.
• We’ll break this plan into two-week increments, then have Invisalign custom-manufacture your own set of aligners to fit your unique bite.
• Once you receive your aligners, you’ll wear each for about 2 weeks for 20-22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
• With each new set of aligners, your teeth will move closer to their optimal positions – and when you’re finished, you’ll have a beautiful new smile to call your own!
Historically, orthodontists have used dental putty to make impressions: physical models of your teeth and bite. Impressions are useful, but they have their limitations, and making them requires patients to sit with an uncomfortable putty in their mouths for up to 10 minutes.
Instead of traditional impressions, we’re proud users of iTero digital scanners in our office. iTero uses advanced optical imaging technology to create a fully-realized 3D computer model of a patient’s bite, one that can be manipulated and operated on to simulate tooth movement and create a more precise treatment than ever. Plus, with iTero, the entire scanning process simply involves waving a wand inside the mouth to scan the teeth. It takes mere minutes, and there’s no messy putty involved!
I had an amazing experience with Dr. Kimos and his team during my braces treatment. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth and stress-free. Dr. Kimos also referred me to an excellent surgeon for my procedure, and everything went perfectly. The staff at the office are incredibly friendly, professional, and always made me feel welcome. I couldn’t be happier with the results, and I highly recommend Dr. Kimos to anyone considering orthodontic treatment

Schedule an AppointmentYou must wear your aligners for up to 22 hours daily. You may remove them for eating, drinking and regular oral hygiene.
No. Unlike braces, you may eat whatever you like as long as you remove the aligners before eating. Prior to placing the aligners back on, it is important to brush your teeth and the aligners after you eat.
Like any orthodontic treatment, there is a short adjustment period. The more you speak with the aligners on, the quicker you will adjust.
There will be some pressure and minor discomfort for a day or two after each initial insertion. This is a sign that your teeth are moving sequentially into their final position.
It is recommended that you remove your aligners prior to chewing gum as the gum will stick to the aligners.
We discourage smoking with aligners as the cigarette smoke will tend to discolor them.
Brushing them with toothpaste will keep them fresh and clean.
Regular office visits are every eight to twelve weeks. This will ensure that your Invisalign treatment is progressing as planned.
All orthodontic patients are instructed to wear their retainers at night indefinitely. Sleeping with your retainers in at night will ensure a healthy bite and maintain the new position of your teeth.
Treatment time varies depending on the severity of the misaligned teeth. Treatment time can be shorter than traditional braces, between six and 18 months.
